It’s not easy being a small business in this industry. We know because we started small too. That’s why it’s important to us to help other small businesses flourish. Each month, we open our doors to host a roundtable for local, small, and minority businesses to foster growth, provide access to information, and develop more professional relationships. On May 16, 2018, FMCC hosted Bill Sharpe, DDOT’s Chief Contracting Officer to talk to our group about what’s improving in their system, what jobs are on the horizon, and solicit feedback on how the District can help grow Small Businesses.
On the same day, FMCC participated as an exhibitor in the US Department of Transportation’s Small Business Opportunities Day. Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao hosted the event for small business owners interested in learning about, competing for, or providing services or products at the state, local or federal government level.
Representatives from a variety of agencies at the state, local and federal level, as well as Prime Contractors like FMCC, and Small Business Specialists provided information through matchmaking sessions. Participants had the opportunity to talk and network individually with government officials from these agencies.
More than 40 government buying offices and prime contractors including our team attended to present information and resources to small businesses.
